Started in 2015 by Dr. Felipe Cunha, the Study Group in Exercise Prescription (GEPrEx) develops research, teaching and extension activities at the Laboratory of Physical Activity and Health Promotion (LABSAU), located in the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (IEFD/UERJ).
The guiding theme of the GEPrEx teaching and research activities concerns the effect of manipulating the components that constitute the FITT-VP principle (acronym for frequency, intensity, time and type, in addition to volume and progression), that is essential for the systematic and individualized prescription of physical exercise to elicit physiological responses and adaptations associated with improving health markers in healthy and special populations.
The group is made up of students and alumni of the IEFD and the Postgraduate Program in Exercise and Sport Sciences (PPGCEE/UERJ), and health professionals interested in the PPGCEE master's or doctorate vacancy, under the supervision of Dr. Felipe Cunha. Moreover, the group has collaborators from other institutions in Brazil and abroad.
